Receptor guanylyl cyclase (RGC) family in GtoPdb v.2023.1
نویسندگان
چکیده
The mammalian genome encodes seven guanylyl cyclases, GC-A to GC-G, that are homodimeric transmembrane receptors activated by a diverse range of endogenous ligands. These enzymes convert guanosine-5'-triphosphate the intracellular second messenger cyclic guanosine-3',5'-monophosphate (cyclic GMP). GC-A, GC-B and GC-C expressed predominantly in cardiovascular system, skeletal system intestinal epithelium, respectively. GC-D GC-G found olfactory neuropepithelium Grueneberg ganglion rodents, GC-E GC-F retinal photoreceptors.

Glycosylation of human receptor guanylyl cyclase C
Background Post translational modifications regulate several signalling pathways and glycosylation is emerging as a key player in this regulatory process. Glycosylation of cell surface receptors modulate the downstream signalling pathway and when altered causes a change in the normal physiology of the cell [1]. Guanylyl cyclase C (GC-C) belongs to a group of membrane bound receptors that produc...
متن کاملNO signalling in mice lacking the NO receptor guanylyl cyclase
NO-sensitive guanylyl cyclase (NO-GC) is accepted to be the major receptor for the signaling molecule NO. NO-GC catalyzes the production of the intracellular second messenger cGMP and thereby has a key regulatory function regarding various physiological processes. NO-GC is made up of one β subunit and one α subunit. On the protein level, there are two α subunits (α1 and α2) and one β subunit (β...
متن کاملPharmacological characterization of receptor guanylyl cyclase reporter cell lines
Receptor guanylyl cyclases are implicated in a growing number of pathophysiologies and, therefore, represent an important target class for drug development. We report here the generation and pharmacological characterization of three particulate guanylyl cyclase (pGC) reporter cell lines. Plasmid constructs encoding the natriuretic peptide receptors GC-A and GC-B, and the heat-stable enterotoxin...
متن کاملTranscriptional regulation of guanylyl cyclase/natriuretic peptide receptor-A gene.
Activation of natriuretic peptide receptor-A (NPRA) produces the second messenger cGMP, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining blood pressure and cardiovascular homeostasis. In the present study, we have examined the role of trans-acting factor Ets-1 in transcriptional regulation of Npr1 gene (coding for NPRA). Using deletional analysis of the Npr1 promoter, we have defined a 400 base pair (...
متن کاملGuanylyl cyclase sees the light
Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is a critical second messenger that regulates cardiovascular function and vision in humans. Two recent papers, including one in BMC Structural Biology, have revealed atomic structures of the enzymes that catalyze the synthesis of cGMP providing new clues about the molecular basis of substrate specificity and allosteric regulation in nucleotide cyclases.
